The brand new Dixie Dean Wall of Fame will be unveiled this Bank Holiday Monday – and fans are invited to come along and catch a first glimpse. The launch event will take place at 3pm on Monday 5 May, the anniversary of Dean’s famous 60th league goal in 1927/28, and supporters are welcome to join special guests to see the revamped area at the entrance to Goodison Park. Plans to unveil a new gateway to the stadium were revealed in February and the Dixie Dean statue is the centrepiece of the area. The statue, which was originally unveiled in May 2001, will be surrounded by a commemorative wall made up of engraved stones. The ‘Goodison Granites’ sold out within days of going on sale, with Evertonians snapping up the personalised plaques as gifts and tokens of their passion for the Blues. The new area has been a project co-ordinated by the Everton Fans' Forum, with support from the Club. The group of supporters, who meet monthly to discuss and input into key Club decisions, were given the opportunity to drive the project through from concept to completion. Chairman of the Fans' Forum, Tony Bott, said: "We have put a lot of time and effort into this project and we’re really looking forward to sharing the final showpiece with the rest of the Everton fanbase. “Dixie’s Wall of Fame was so popular when it was announced back in February, with so many Evertonians quickly taking up the chance to secure their place on this piece of history that will forever leave its mark on our beloved stadium. “Everyone on the Fans’ Forum is hoping that many fans will come down at 3pm on 5 May to show their support and see their engraved plaque on the Wall of Fame.”
