Dixie Dean statue on the move as Wall of Fame to be unveiled Everton's Dixie Dean statue Dixie's on the move again – 86 years to the day since he headed his record-breaking 60th league goal. The much-loved statue of Everton’s all-time top goalscorer, Dixie Dean, is moving from its berth of the last few years, immediately outside the Park End of Goodison Park, back to near its original site on Walton Lane. And Blues fans can be among the first to see the new Dixie Dean Wall of Fame when it is unveiled next week at Goodison. The launch event will take place at 3pm on Monday, May 5 which is also the anniversary of Dixie Dean’s famous 60th league goal. Supporters will join a number of special guests to catch the first glimpse of the revamped area. The statue was originally unveiled in May 2001 and will now be surrounded by a commemorative wall made up of personalised engraved stones. The ‘Goodison Granites’ sold out within days of going on sale. The new area has been a project co-ordinated by the Everton Fans’ Forum with support from the club. Chairman of the Fans’ Forum Tony Bott, said: “We have put a lot of time and effort into this project and we’re really looking forward to sharing the final showpiece with the rest of the Everton fanbase. “Dixie’s Wall of Fame was so popular when it was announced back in February with so many Evertonians quickly taking up the chance to secure their place on this piece of history that will forever leave its mark on our beloved stadium. “Everyone on the Fans’ Forum is hoping that many fans will come down on May 5 to show their support and see their engraved plaque on the Wall of Fame.” Source: Phil Kirkbride / Echo
