Premier League chief Richard Scudamore says there is currently no intention to revisit controversial plans to play a 39th top flight fixture abroad, although he insists that many clubs are in favour of the idea. The proposal was first mooted back in 2008, but was soon shelved following a significant backlash from fans, before being knocked back again in 2014. Nevertheless, Premier League clubs remain keen on maximising their potential in new markets, and Scudamore believes that an international round of fixtures remains the best way of capitalising on interest from abroad. But, speaking at the Premier League Asia Trophy - itself a symbol of the Premier League's international success - Scudamore says that past reactions mean there are no plans to revisit the idea once more. He said: "I've got the scars all the way up my back (from the last time). "Look, I may be at the Premier League for five, 10, 15 or 20 years. There is no plan to do it. "Is there still a burning desire? The clubs would like to do it but we are also realistic that says until the fan, political and media reaction is any more warm towards it, it won't happen. "I think there would be a desire to do a round of fixtures internationally but there is no prospect of it happening any time soon or in anybody's realistic timeframe. "We have no time set for it but I am a man of belief. I thought it was the right thing to do I, still do."

It's the first I've heard of it if I'm honest.
I'm not sure it would be anything more than a gimmick.
