Goalkeeper Louis Gray is targeting a fresh start with Everton after recovering from a long-term injury and signing a new one-year contract with the Club. The 21-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a deal which will run until the end of June 2018. Gray, formerly of Wrexham, was ruled out of action for six months of the Under-23s’ 2016/17 campaign with a back problem, but is now fully fit and eagerly awaiting the start of pre-season training. Louis Gray Contract 480 2 “It’s great to be given the extra year after a personally disappointing season with me being out injured for six months,” he told evertonfc.com. “It’s down to me to work hard and kick on now. “After last season this is a fresh start, a clean slate. It was a testing year but we have a great medical team here. “I had a break over the summer but it was also important that I did strength and conditioning work because of the type of injury which I had. “I want to get back playing, get minutes under my belt in pre-season and go from there.” Gray is expecting coach David Unsworth to lay on a tough pre-season programme for the Under-23s as they start out on the journey to defend their Premier League 2 title in 2017/18. “As a team we want to pick up from where we left off last season,” added Gray. “We have set the benchmark high. “Unsy said to us that pre-season is going to be even harder because we’ve set our standards higher. “After missing all the football last year, being on the sidelines and in the gym, I’m really looking forward Monday, seeing all the lads again and working hard.”
