Former Everton wing-half Kenny Rea has passed away at the age of 79. Rea was born in Liverpool and signed as a professional with the Blues as a 16-year-old in 1951. However, he had to be patient and didn't make his debut until September 1956 when manager Ian Buchan selected him for a game at Wolverhampton Wanderers. The hosts included legends Billy Wright, Ron Flowers, Bill Slater and Peter Broadbent in their team as they condemned Everton to a 2-1 defeat. Unfortunately for Rea he was dogged by injuries and his future appearances were sporadic. In total, he played 51 times before leaving in 1959 to join Runcorn.
