Director To Support 67,000 Girlguiding MembersDenise Barrett-Baxendale named new Region President. Members of Girlguiding North West England are celebrating the appointment of a new Region President, who will support the North West charity and its 67,000 members over the next three years. As one of the most prominent and respected women in sport, Denise Barrett-Baxendale MBE, Everton Football Club Deputy CEO, was chosen to take on the role, after her name was put forward by a panel of girls and young women aged between 14–25 as an inspirational role model. Denise will work closely and support the lead volunteers of the organisation, to support girls and young women across the North West. Speaking of her new role, Denise said: “I am both excited and honoured to join Girlguiding North West as their Region President and I look forward to working closely with the organisation over the coming year. “Girlguiding offers fantastic opportunities to young women to stretch and challenge themselves to become empowered women whilst developing the skills and confidence they need to reach their full potential.” Region Chief Commissioner, Julie Bell, said: “I am delighted that Denise has accepted the role of Region President. I am sure that Denise’s range of experience and interests will be of great benefit to the Region, and I can’t wait to start working with her.” Girlguiding gives girls and women the chance to have fun, build friendships and make a positive difference in their community.
