Everton Under-18s were held to a 1-1 draw by Stoke City on Saturday.Daniel Bramall got the young Blues off to the perfect start at the Potters’ Clayton Wood training facility, charging down the goalkeeper’s attempted clearance before converting Manasse Mampala’s cut-back to open the scoring inside 10 minutes. Kevin Sheedy’s side continued to control proceedings throughout the opening period, but were pegged back 10 minutes after the interval when a defensive error allowed Stoke to draw level. Mampala and substitute Sims spurned half chances in the closing stages, meaning the Toffees were forced to settle for a point. The Under-18s now have two fixtures remaining - against Norwich City and Tottenham Hostpur - and coach Sheedy insists there is still plenty to play for. “We’re disappointed not to win the game but pleased with the performance,” he said. “We’ve had a couple of poor performances recently, so it was good to get back on track in that respect. “We have two games left and they’re both big tests. We’ve given opportunities to a few of the younger players recently and we’ll continue to do that, so it’s a chance for them to impress ahead of next season.” Everton Under-18s: Pierce, Duke-McKenna, Moore, Ouzounidis, Harrington, Lees, Bramall (Sims, 75), Morris, Mampala, Warren, Adedoyin (Gordon, 65). Unused substitutes: Jones, Kerr, Collins. Everton FC
