Everton Under-23s will look to seal the Premier League 2 title in their final game of the season against local rivals Liverpool at Goodison Park on Monday 8 May – and fans can once again come along to support the team for free! The Blues' second string continue to sit atop the table, with second-placed Manchester City now six points behind with two fixtures remaining. The Citizens' game in hand is due to be played against Liverpool on Monday, before they complete their season against Southampton on Friday 5 May. It means David Unsworth’s side, who also have a goal difference superior by eight goals, could be confirmed as champions before the mini-Merseyside derby. “We’ll see how it goes but if it has to go to the last game, it has to go to the last game,” said Unsworth. “It will be great to see a packed Goodison for our young players because they deserve it, they really do.” Ahead of the 7pm kick-off there will be donation buckets around Goodison to help raise much-needed funds for the Under-23s ‘Home Is Where The Heart Is’ fundraising campaign which is seeking to raise £230,000 to house a living initiative for young people on the brink of homelessness across the city of Liverpool. The funds raised will be used to purchase, and operate, a house close to Goodison, which will offer 16 to 23-year-olds who have fallen on hard times, or have perhaps fallen out of the care system, a roof over their heads. Everton in the Community, the Blues’ official charity, will also play a large role in their development moving forward by providing them with access to key services, including health and wellbeing support and assistance with education, employment and training. There will also be entertainment in the Everton Fan Zone prior to kick-off with special guests and various activities for fans in attendance to enjoy. The first allocation of tickets will be available in the Upper Bullens Stand and can be collected from Wednesday 26 April from Everton One, Everton Two or the Park End Box Office. If you would like to support the ‘Home Is Where The Heart Is’ campaign there are plenty of ways to do so. You can click here to donate directly to the cause or alternatively, please complete the form below if you are able to support the campaign with items or services which could be used for developing the house or perhaps help a young person with their social development such as driving lessons or clothing for job interviews. Walsh Has Title BeliefMidfielder confident young Blues will get over the line - even if Man City win final two games. Everton Under-23s’ unshakeable belief in their ability has seen them to the brink of landing the Premier League 2 title, says Liam Walsh. The midfielder was on target in the 2-2 draw with Chelsea on Friday night, a result that sees his side six points ahead of second-placed Manchester City, who play on Monday at Liverpool and then a week on Friday against Southampton. It means David Unsworth’s charges, who also boast a goal difference eight better than City’s, could land the crown if their closest rivals fail to win against both of their remaining opponents. However, Walsh is confident that, if necessary, the young Blues will get the job done when they concluded the campaign against Liverpool at Goodison Park on Monday 8 May. “We are all winners in that dressing room – we all hate losing, and even drawing games,” he told evertonfc.com after Friday’s draw. “It doesn’t matter if it’s in training, we’re still the same. “We know we are a good team. Against Chelsea, towards the end we just couldn’t find a late winner. Even when they got the second goal to equalise, we believed in ourselves and thought we would get another chance. “We have just got to be a bit more clinical in front of goal, although their goalkeeper had a great game and kept them in it throughout. “We knew a point at Chelsea would probably be enough given our goal difference. But we wanted to win this game to ensure we could go and lift the title at Goodison next week.” Walsh and his fellow Under-23s are relishing the chance to run out at the Grand Old Lady, with free entry for Evertonians wanting to come and support them. “Now we are all hoping for a big finish at Goodison,” he added. “We want to win in every derby we play in, but knowing that it could be for the league title gives it that little bit extra edge. “We’ll go in at 100 per cent and we’ll win that game.” Everton FC
