Valencia Starts For BluesEnner Valencia has been handed a start for the Blues’ clash with Premier League leaders Chelsea at Goodison. The Ecuadorian is available again after being ineligible to take on parent club West Ham last weekend. Dominic Calvert-Lewin is the only other change from that goalless draw, the 20-year-old being named in Ronald Koeman’s starting XI, with Kevin Mirallas dropping to the bench and Morgan Schneiderlin unavailable because of a thigh injury. Maarten Stekelenburg retains his place in goal, with Mason Holgate at right-back in a defence which also features Phil Jagielka, Ashley Williams and Leighton Baines. Giving his pre-match thoughts, Koeman said: "[Playing in Europe] is what we like to have for next season, it is good for the Club and the players - but it doesn’t change the mentality or the focus of this afternoon. "It is always difficult. It is a big game today against the strongest team in the Premier League so far. It is a great game to play in. "We need to stop the strengths of Chelsea. If we have the ball, we need to be good in possession and then we need to have good defensive organisation against players like Eden Hazard. We can’t give them that space to play between the lines - I think that’s a key point this afternoon. "He (Schneiderlin) had a thigh injury that happened two days ago. We are really disappointed but we start with 11 players today. We know injuries are part of football, we have five or six players out and that makes things even more difficult but hopefully we can do it without them." Everton FC

I'm a bit surprised not to see Muhamed Besic on the bench with Schneiderlin out.
Bad timing for Schneiderlin all the same.

3 forwards on the pitch and we can't hold the ball up? Mirallas dropped again for a young kid in a big game is just daft. We're not playing very well at all so I expect better in the 2nd half.
