It was so sad to hear that Alex had passed away. It was only about two or three months that he was down here at Goodison. He was my idol along with Nat Lofthouse.

A sad loss but it's time new legends came forward. We've not had one since the 80's really.

The funeral of Alex Young will take place at 10am on Saturday March 11 at Warriston Crematorium in Edinburgh. An Everton Giant who became renowned as The Golden Vision, he won the English League title with the Club in 1963 and the FA Cup in 1966. In total, the Scot appeared 273 times for the Blues after joining from Hearts in 1960, netting on 87 occasions before he departed for Glentoran in 1968. He passed away on Monday, aged 80.
