Tom Davies has vowed to use the Blues’ array of midfield talent to help improve his game. The Toffees’ engine room is a competitive place to be part of at present, with the 18-year-old vying for starting spots with Morgan Schneiderlin, Gareth Barry, Idrissa Gana Gueye and James McCarthy, while Mo Besic is working his way back to full fitness. It’s a welcome selection poser for boss Ronald Koeman, and a scenario Davies aims to make the most of. “We have so many top midfielders here but that’s a good thing for me,” said the teenager. “You can see how good they are in training. In the games they help so much so it’s good being around them and learning from them. “I’m taking as much as I can from them and if I can pick up as much as I can, I’m sure my game is only going to come on. “(The manager) has been great with me. Him and all the coaching staff right through the Academy. They’ve always been good and I owe everything I’ve done to them. The manager’s helped me out a lot and it’s only going to continue if I keep listening to him and keep working hard.” Everton are unbeaten in the Premier League so far in 2017, a run that stretches back seven matches. In that time, Davies, of course, grabbed his first senior Blues goal in the 4-0 rout of Manchester City last month. That helped the West Derby youngster in being named the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month and Match of the Day’s Young Lion of the Month. While the Academy graduate was pleased to pick up the accolades, though, he was keen to stay focused on Saturday’s trip to Middlesbrough, and the push for a top-six finish. “It’s been a good month, we’ve had a lot of good results,” added Davies. “I put in few good performances myself so I’m just glad to have helped the team out and been able to get the results we have. “(Middlesbrough) is going to be a hard game but the way we’ve been playing, the players we’ve got now and the kind of relationships we’re forming it’s one we’ve got to look to win. I don’t think we can be happy with anything but a win. “We’ll just do everything we can to keep the pressure on (the top six), just wait for one of them to drop points, and we’ll be there to seize our chance.” Everton FC
