Everton's Tom Cleverley to have Watford medical ahead of loanEverton and England midfielder Tom Cleverley is to have a medical at Watford on Thursday, according to Sky sources. The two clubs have agreed a loan deal until the end of the season with the option of making the move permanent. Cleverley has made just four starts for the Goodison Park side in the Premier League this season, also coming on as a substitute six times. Indeed, he has struggled to hold down a regular place in the team since his move from Old Trafford in June 2015. The 27-year-old did feature more in his debut campaign on Merseyside and scored twice in wins over Newcastle and Bournemouth. With Morgan Schneiderlin now set to follow the same path from United, however, Cleverley appears set to boost Watford's bid to stay in the Premier League. The Vicarage Road outfit started the campaign relatively well under Walter Mazzarri but have fallen down the standings and are now 14th in the table. Although they are still seven points clear of the relegation zone, they have failed to win any of their last five league outings and have collected just one point from a possible 15. Mazzarri has said he is confident of adding new faces to his squad this month and now looks set to make Cleverley his first recruit. SkySports

Watford are a good team that could float around the bottom half of the league for a few years getting themselves established like Stoke did so not the worst move.

Tom Cleverley has joined fellow Premier League side Watford on loan for the rest of the season, with an option to buy. The midfielder will spend the rest of the campaign with the Hornets, with whom he had a previous loan spell in 2009/10 while at Manchester United. The 27-year-old will be ineligible to play the Blues when the sides meet at Goodison Park on 13 May. Cleverley joined the Toffees on a free transfer from United on 1 July 2015 and made his debut in a 2-2 draw at Goodison against Watford, one of 30 appearances he made for the Club in his maiden season. During the current campaign he has featured on 12 occasions but will now see out the season at Vicarage Road.
