Everton loan round upFour of Everton’s on-loan contingent were in action over the weekend. Kicking off in the FA Cup, both Aiden McGeady and Brendan Galloway featured for their respective clubs in third-round ties. Unfortunately for both, the pair suffered early exits in the competition. McGeady, however, impressed for Preston as they were edged 2-1 by holders Arsenal. The Republic of Ireland international turned Aaron Ramsey before threading a pass between Nacho Monreal and Gabriel for Callum Robinson to turn home. But Ramsey equalised and Olivier Giroud struck a late winner to send the Gunners through. Galloway started at left-back for West Brom as they faced fellow Midlands side Derby County at the Hawthorns, but made way for Hal Robson-Kanu after Darren Bent and Tom Ince had overturned Matt Phillips’ opener early in the second half. That’s the way it stayed, with the Rams adding their name to the hat for the fourth round. In League Two, Conor Grant enjoyed a big win for Doncaster as they saw off fellow promotion-chasers Portsmouth 3-1 at the Keepmoat Stadium. The Blues youngster played the full 90 minutes as John Marquis struck twice to help Rovers go four points clear at the top of the table. In the National League, Delial Brewster played 75 minutes in Southport’s 2-1 away defeat to play-off chasers Aldershot.
