Young Everton striker Delial Brewster has joined Southport on loan until the end of the season. Brewster, 19, has been in Everton’s academy since the age of 12. He starred in the Blues’ Dallas Cup success in March and has been on the fringes of the Under-23 squad this season. The forward joins his hometown side in time for their National League clash with Wrexham which kicks off at 3pm on New Year’s Day.

Striker back at Everton after season-long loan is cut shortDelial Brewster returns to Blues from SouthportStriker Delial Brewster is back at Everton after his loan at Southport was cut short. The 19-year-old had joined the National League side – who are also his hometown club – for the remainder of the season but Sandgrounders operations director Liam Watson has confirmed that Brewster plus Sheffield United’s Jake Wright, who had only arrived on a month-long agreement, have returned to their parent clubs. Despite Brewster’s exit, Southport’s official Twitter account quoted Watson as saying: “the search for a striker is a priority as the strengthening of the Southport squad continues.” Brewster’s loan move was announced on New Year’s Day and he scored on his debut that afternoon in a 3-2 victory over Wrexham. However, it proved to be his only goal for the Yellows and after further starts in the 2-1 defeat at Aldershot and 1-0 win at Barrow, his time at the club was limited to just three appearances. He had not been involved in their matchday squad for the last six matches, a period that includes the exit of former manager Steve Burr and appointment of his successor Andy Preece, the club’s ninth boss in less than four years. Brewster has been at Everton since joining them from neighbours Liverpool aged 12 and he signed his first professional contract in 2015. He also netted on his senior debut on loan for Stockport County in and scored five goals for the Blues Under-18s side as they lifted the Dallas Cup in March 2016. Liv Echo

It makes a bit of a mockery out of the loan rule.
Just don't lend them any more players now.
