A playboy who left his £90,000 Porsche illegally parked outside a Paris nightclub returned to find it blown up by anti-terrorist officers.
The 25-year-old, named only as Olivier, was out on the town in the upmarket St-Germain des Pres area of the French capital last Thursday when disaster struck.
After a night of drinking and dancing, he was over the legal alcohol limit and so left his Porsche Carrera S with its hazard lights flashing, and then took a taxi home.
A police patrol reacted by calling in the bomb squad who, supported by anti-terrorist personnel, blew up the front of the sports car, effectively reducing it to a write-off.
‘I shouldn’t have parked it there,’ Olivier told the Parisien newspaper, but he said he was taking legal advice. The police ‘contacted the leasing agency, then called me, and I explained the situation,’ Olivier added.
‘I said sorry and said I would head there immediately. But obviously they didn’t take this into account, because the bonnet was already blown up by the time I arrived.’
