I think it's brilliant; I'm always amazed at what is possibly beneath my feet. It's normally something a dog has left.

Don't know if anyone is aware, but I live in Southport, Merseyside and under Nevill Street which is just around the corner from me, there is another row of shops. It appears that around 1903, the Nevill Street was raised to meet the promenade, maybe because of increased traffic, so there is a world of smashed shop fronts boarded up and then buried beneath the pavements. There are rumours of lost entrances to old Nevill Street, but none of them can be found today and it is said they can only been seen through stories in the towns archives. However, I think this is fascinating stuff and would love to see what it all looks like - would be amazing! I found a thread on another website for you, that discusses Neville St Ooh cheers for that Av, your an absolute star

Why on earth would somebody be allowed to build tunnels and the city have no idea what they were for? It's not like they could have done it without anybody noticing. Maybe it was for drains, or even smuggling, although it depends where they lead. I'd have loved them as a kid.
