Dominic Calvert-Lewin's fine goalscoring form continued as he took just 26 minutes to net on his senior England debut.
Calvert-Lewin was handed his Three Lions bow in Thursday's friendly against Wales - his reward for hitting nine goals in six matches at club level so far this season.
The Everton forward met an inviting cross from Aston Villa's Jack Grealish to head Gareth Southgate's side ahead midway through the first half at Wembley.
Calvert-Lewin's tally this season includes two hat-tricks – the Sheffield-born frontman struck trebles in the Toffees’ 5-2 Premier League win over West Bromwich Albion and in last week's 4-1 Carabao Cup victory against West Ham United.
In 2017, Calvert-Lewin scored the winner for England against Venezuela in the Under-20 FIFA World Cup final.
He also netted seven goals in 17 appearances for England Under-21s.
Everton defender Michael Keane won his 11th international cap by starting against Wales, while goalkeeper Jordan Pickford was named among the substitutes.
Head back to evertonfc.com later to learn the full-time score from Wembley and for a round-up of all the internationals Blues in action.

Tom Davies and Ben Godfrey will be part of an England Under-21 squad aiming to end a 37-year wait for European Championship success.
The Everton pair are in a squad which will travel to Slovenia this month for the first leg of the competition, which was originally scheduled for June last year.
England, who were undefeated in a dominant qualifying campaign, are in a group with Portugal, Croatia and Switzerland.
The top two finishers will reach the tournament's final stages, a straight knockout set for Hungary and Slovenia between 31 May and 6 June.
England, who are among 16 teams aiming to progress from four groups, start their finals campaign against Switzerland on 25 March.
Manager Aidy Boothroyd's team face Portugal three days later, on 28 March, and finish on 31 March when they meet Croatia.
Everton Academy graduate midfielder Davies, 22, has 21 England Under-21 caps following a debut in September 2017.
Godfrey, who joined Everton from Norwich City back in October, made his Under-21 international debut in September 2019.
The defender, 23, captained Boothroyd's side on his first start in the same month and has made seven appearances.
England last won the European Under-21 Championship when they beat Spain in a two-legged final in 1984.
