Sunderland boss David Moyes keen on Phil Jagielka reunion as Everton close in on Lamine KoneThe duo could be part of the transfer merry-go-round with Everton to bring in Ashley Williams after selling John Stones to Man CityDavid Moyes wants to be reunited with Phil Jagielka at Sunderland as the transfer merry-go-round gets into full swing. John Stones's £47.5million switch from Everton to Manchester City has triggered a series of deals with the Toffees set to bring in Ashley Williams from Swansea and Lamine Kone from Sunderland. And Sunderland boss Moyes wants Jagielka to move in the opposite direction to replace Kone at the Stadium of Light. Moyes signed Jagielka from Sheffield United in 2007 and the former England centre-half was his defensive rock at Goodison Park. Jagielka's future is in doubt at Everton because of Ronald Koeman's defensive overhaul and Moyes feels his experience would be useful at Sunderland. Jagielka turns 34 next Wednesday and Koeman may feel he cannot afford to let him go. Williams is expected at Finch Farm today to complete his £12million switch from Swansea and it is understood Everton had delayed announcing the Stones deal until today to tie up that transfer. They did not want the Swans upping the price at the last minute because they knew Everton were banking a huge windfall from Stones. Kone has also travelled to Merseyside in expectation of sealing his £18million move - just seven months after joining Sunderland for £5million. Daily Mirror

That would be a good move for Phil actually as his nose will soon get pushed out at Everton if we get the defensive signings we want and can't see him keeping his armband either.

Is Kone a good defender? I don't know anything about him.

I agree it would be good for him, but maybe a January move would be better for Everton as we don't want a situation where we have an entire new defence going into the season.
