Bayern Munich 1 Real Madrid 2
Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo became the first player in history to reach 100 goals in European competition after his brace in the side’s 2-1 win against Bayern Munich on Wednesday. Zinedine Zidane’s side were trailing going into the interval but a double from Ronaldo in the second half gave the La Liga giants the advantage heading into the second leg at the Bernabeu.
Cristiano Ronaldo ended a seven-month Champions League goal drought as holders Real Madrid came from behind to beat 10-man Bayern Munich in the first leg of their quarter-final in Munich. Ronaldo, the Champions League's record goalscorer, scored twice in the second half to end an 11-hour wait for a goal and put the 11-times winners in charge. Arturo Vidal had headed Bayern ahead but then wasted a chance to double their lead when he blasted a penalty over the crossbar. And Ronaldo then twice clinically converted from crosses either side of Javi Martinez's red card to move to 97 Champions League goals. Bayern were kept in the game after going down to 10 men by goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who saved brilliantly from Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Ronaldo. But the Germany international will feel he should have done better for Ronaldo's winner as the Portuguese stabbed a shot through his legs from close range. Real may also leave with regrets, as they could have taken a commanding lead into next week's second leg at the Bernabeu. As well as Neuer's string of saves, captain Sergio Ramos had a last-minute header correctly ruled out for offside before Ronaldo lost his footing when seemingly well placed to meet a cross when unmarked four yards out.

Atlético Madrid 1-0 Leicester City Leicester City kept Atletico Madrid within reach as they restricted the dominant Spaniards to a single goal in their Champions League quarter-final first leg. Koke had already hit the visitors' post in the first half when the referee judged Marc Albrighton's foul on Antoine Griezmann had been inside the penalty area. Replays showed contact was made outside the box but Griezmann duly stepped up to send Kasper Schmeichel the wrong way. Fernando Torres slipped as the goal beckoned in the second half but, that chance apart, Atletico struggled to carve out clear-cut openings against a stubborn Leicester defence. Robert Huth - who will be banned for the second leg after being booked - saw a shot blocked and Shinji Okazaki narrowly failed to make contact with a low cross in the best of Leicester's rare raids forward. While the Leicester fans high in the Vicente Calderon weighed up whether they were satisfied with the way the tie was poised at its halfway point, some might have taken time to reflect on the heights the team have scaled in just a few short years.

Leicester could be ok with that result as long as they turn up.

What a load of ***** ups that was once again. You just know if we qualified for Champions league we'd get ripped off again by the money changing hands.
