Hello everyone.
Quite a long time ago a few forum members supposed that it might be interesting if I tell about living in Russian capital city.
Don’t know where to start and forehand I’m sorry for my language and grammar
.
The population of the city (~12m) is more then lives in entire Belgium. The vast territory of the city also became bigger with addition of south-west parts of Moscow oblast’ [ɒblastz’] in 2012 (oblast or province is something like ceremonial county or so, I know nothing about GB territory division
).
But usually we call Moscow everything that is inside МКАД or MRAR (Moscow ring auto-road 108 km long), now I guess it's less then half of terrtitory that actually attributed to Moscow on paper.
Well enough with this meagre stuff, I hope in future to restrain from information that you might know from Wikipedia
.
Moscow is Eastern European New York. Of course we don’t have many skyscrapers, to be accurate only few, but in terms of different nationalities and rhythm of the city it’s quite true.
I might be wrong, this info requires verification but I’ve heard that Moscow is the second most polluted city in Russia. People easily get use to things so you notice the difference only if you go out of town for a week or several days. But of course Moscow is not the New Dheli (I was there, the smog is just awful).
Moscow is a state inside the state, as we often say, because life here pretty much differs from other parts of the country. Generally everybody try to get here, but I guess crisis slows this trend a little bit, some people went back home.
I live in Moscow my entire life, I love it but I fed up with it. It’s sucking up life juices from people. It’s more about making money here then living. Trips in underground (metro) also could be depressing, yet metro itself may be the most beautiful in the world. Some stations are almost masterpieces with great halls, columns and mosaic works. Beauty bought with human bones by the way, so I guess doesn’t worth of it in the end.
St.Petersburg (also quite big in terms of population by European standards, was capital before 1917) attracts many Russians because of its more pleasant spirit and atmosphere. In contrast with Moscow, people there are actually living not running in the wheel and they are more friendly too as much as Russians could be
, just kidding.
Well that’s it for the first time. Don’t know will be there a time for me to write something more before I leave Moscow for more then a month.
Ask questions, will be glad to answer.
P.S. I would post some photos, but I had difficulties with pictures in previous posts, links from Google disc didn’t display in the end.
If you ever come to Russia visit both capitals, first Moscow then St.Petersburg.
