Mauricio Pochettino Confirms Agreement for New 5-Year Spurs ContractTottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has agreed a two-year extension to his current contract, keeping him at the club for the next five years until 2021. With speculation surrounding a lot of top jobs around Europe - particularly Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain - Pochettino's future at White Hart Lane was said to be in doubt. However, he used his Friday press conference to completely dispel the rumours about his future. Pochettino has been credited with a large portion of Spurs' dramatic rise up the Premier League table, currently sitting behind only Leicester at the top after making a real, sustained title challenge for the first time in a number of years. The announcement will take some by surprise, with Matt Le Tissier saying just a couple of hours before: "It doesn't shock me that Pochettino, who is an ambitious manager, would be touting himself for other jobs and it wouldn't surprise me if he left. He's very driven, be it by ambition or finances and I think if PSG did come knocking then he would accept it." A failure to beat West Brom on Monday night looks to have put paid to Tottenham's title hopes for the season, with leaders Leicester now needing just a single win from their last three games to wrap up the title, but Pochettino's young squad are expected to challenge again next season. With current Premier League top scorer Harry Kane leading the line, the best defence in the country, a vibrant set of young midfielders and the prospect of some big-money signings in the summer, the future under Pochettino looks bright at White Hart Lane. 90min
