rosscrombie Ross, I believe you're not considering something important, if unproven. Everton are playing badly ' because' of the way Martinez is telling them to play, and this includes his selection, tactics, substitutions, and game management, and things are not going to change. John Stones does what he does 'because' he is told to, you can guarantee. We allow other teams to play because the players are told to do that, and don't press. Cutting our losses 'NOW' has many benefits.Firstly it gives the players a release from the chains they are shackled with, and they can express themselves on the pitch without the restrictions of the Martinez regime. We don't necessarily need an instant replacement manager at this level for 7 or 8 games, but a new manager would get to see the squad in time and be able to choose wisely in the market, even if he is told to watch every game like a hawk until the end of the season, when he can come in and leave his other job. Secondly, it will lift the fans, to truly get behind the team. I for one cringe every time Martinez opens his mouth. At the end of his post Palace press conference he talks about it being 50 years ago, when Everton scored against United in the semi final, and why? It is because he is trying to convince everybody that his being here is giving us an opportunity for a trophy, and trying to convince us that we've had to wait half a century for the opportunity, which is absolute nonsense. In 2009 we also played United in the semi 'and' beat them. He is a charmer, and a manipulator, and a charlatan, and I could go on and on and on, and an enormous of fans don't like him one bit and want him gone, and absolutely zero is going to change whether we win the cup or not. Losing Martinez will probably be the best chance we have of winning the cup. Look at the teams we had to face to get to the semi. They were very poor opponents, and the exact same can be said about the Capital One cup too. He hasn't had to beat anybody of note to get here, and I include Chelsea in that, as this season they have been shocking. Sack him, and the fans will be overjoyed.

I do agree - now - that he should go, I just don't think it will help if he goes before the SF. It's academic anyway, because they won't sack him, so we'll just have to wonder what 'might' have happened. If we lose next week, it'll be because they didn't act; if we win, it'll be because of the players, not him. I think he's dead-man walking. Sad way to leave your job, assuming that's what will happen. Tomorrow we'll see a much-changed side, and I'd love to see players like Niasse, Dowell, and maybe Duffus start or get at least 30 mins game time

Tomorrow we'll see a much-changed side, and I'd love to see players like Niasse, Dowell, and maybe Duffus start or get at least 30 mins game time Last year Martinez insisted that the final few games were important and his only agenda was to win them, and 'not' use the time to give players who 'might' be on the verge of breaking through, valuable experience. Once again this year his stance has so far been the same, because Martinez likes to do the same thing, and is incapable of diverting from his vision for even a moment, regardless that his vision is flawed. I'd like to see other players too, but very unlikely unless Martinez sees it as an opportunity to improve his own image. The Echo seem to think he is going to bench 2 youngsters, but if he does, ask yourself is he doing it because he feels it will benefit the team, or doing it because he thinks it might save his job.

If fans stop moaning will the board think all is well and we end up with this manager again next season? I worry that if we did win the cup then Kenwright would be all over him, instead of saying thanks, and well done but it's time to move on now.

I know what you're getting at Ross but they're football fans and not going to think the same way.
