Match Report: Everton 5-0 Nottingham ForestAndy Spence's side seal a place in the FA Women's Cup Fifth Round. Goals from Kelly Jones, Claudia Walker, Michelle Hinnigan (2) and a late Emily Hollinshead effort were enough to secure a comfortable victory at the Select Security Stadium. Prior to the opener, Everton had been restricted to efforts from long range, Dan Turner did come close to the first goal when her looping cross hit the woodwork. The Blue Girls dominated the first half but had to wait until the 40th minute for the breakthrough against a resolute Forest side. Claudia Walker crossed from the right hand side and Kelly Jones slotted the ball home at the near post to put hosts in front. Walker was involved in the second goal that followed just after. The forward had a shot from distance, which was spilled by Forest goalkeeper Vanessa Kinnerley and trickled into the net. The second half was a similar affair to the first as Andy Spence's side continued to control the match. Hinnigan’s free-kick from just outside the box made the game safe for Everton after half-time. Her effort squeezed into the bottom corner of the net past the despairing dive of Kinnerley. The 25-year old added her second and Everton’s fourth with a low shot as the game drew to a close, adding gloss to the scoreline. Jenna Dear almost got a fifth on her debut, but the substitute couldn’t find the target when one-on-one with Kinnerley. Dan Turner also had a good chance in the closing stages, but fired high and wide from inside the box. Substitute Emily Hollinshead did eventually get the fifth goal that the Blues deserved, finishing coolly into the corner after a brilliant through ball from Kelly Jones. Blues Girls boss pleased with side's performanceManager Andy Spence was pleased with his side after they progressed to the fifth round of the SSE FA Women’s Cup after winning 5-0 against Nottingham Forest.Goals from Kelly Jones, Claudia Walker, Emily Hollinshead and a double by Michelle Hinnigan secured the win for the Blue Girls. Despite the thumping score line, Spence also saw an opportunity for improvement as they prepare for the start of the WSL 2 season in March. “I’m disappointed with the first half performance, if the truth be known. Nottingham Forest came with a clear plan – to get numbers behind the ball but I don’t think we recognised it. “You have to play quick to break teams down like that and I think that the fact that we played into their hands by playing slowly meant that it was a frustrating half.” “But in the second half, credit to the girls because we wanted a response and the things that we were looking for that would make us look like a good team, and we saw that. There were better movements, more dynamic play and some better combinations.” Spence was also pleased with the performance of his new signings – Georgia Brougham, Alex Brooks and Jenna Dear as well as the return of Megan Finnigan, who returned from injury. “From Alex’s perspective, it was mainly playing out from the back which she did well. Georgia impressed us all with her quality and we saw that today when she was on the ball. We also know when she gets tested as an out and out defender, she will bring those qualities. “I also need to make a special mention to Megan Finnegan as well because she’s had a long time out with injury so to see her back on the pitch was brilliant. You only have to see a snapshot of her for 10 or 15 minutes to see the qualities that she brings to the team. “Jenna (Dear) had a really specific task when she came on and she fulfilled that. She’s got tremendous technical qualities and we wanted her to go on and get lots of touches of the ball.”

Jones Pleased To ProgressMidfielder happy to be in the fifth round of FA Cup after 5-0 win.Kelly Jones was delighted Everton Ladies kept their chances of FA Cup success alive after a comfortable victory over Nottingham Forest. The Blues defeated Forest thanks to goals from Claudia Walker, Michelle Hinnigan (2) and Emily Hollinshead after Jones herself had broken the deadlock on 41 minutes. Midfielder Jones was impressed with their second half performance at the Select Security Stadium but insists the Toffees must continue to improve. “It feels great to get through to the next round,” she said. “The performance wasn’t where we needed it to be but at half-time we sort of addressed that, come out into the second half and I thought we was a lot better. Going into the league season we do need to improve our performance. “Nottingham came and got most of their players behind the ball which made it difficult for us. We needed to speed up our play, quicker movement and I think we did that in the second half and that made breaking them down that little bit easier. “In the second half they came out a little bit more to give it a go but we knew they would tire around 60-70 minutes and we just upped our game a little bit.” Andy Spence’s side have now scored 12 goals and earned two clean sheets in their two FA Cup victories over Stoke City and Nottingham Forest and Jones revealed conceding fewer goals is something they have been working on. “We are looking that this year,” added Jones. “Last season we conceded too many sloppy goals so at the same time we want to be scoring at the other end we also want to be keeping clean sheets. “We’ve got two clean sheets in the cup so far and that is good for us.”
