Farhad Moshiri has dropped the clearest hint yet that Everton have made a decision over the location of their new stadium. The Blues' majority shareholder gave a wide-ranging interview to talkSPORT's Jim White on Monday afternoon, in which he discussed at length proposals for a new, multi-million pound arena. Moshiri visited Merseyside last month to view two prospective stadium sites, at Bramley Moore Dock in the city centre and at Stonebridge Cross in Croxteth. Speaking on talkSPORT, Moshiri said: "The fans must know we have done the hard bit. We have paid the debts, we are free to do what we want, we have the finances. "I went to Liverpool with Bill (Kenwright), I visited the sites with the Mayor (Joe Anderson). The club has taken soundings from fans. "In our mind, we know where we want to go. We are committed. "I can reassure the fans that they will have a stadium that rewards their loyalty and their passion. That is a key aim." Moshiri added: "It is not the same as when Chelsea and Manchester City began their projects, which was before Financial Fair Play. "We can only invest what we made last season, plus £7million. The way to compete is to build a big stadium, to increase our merchandising and commercial income. That is what we will do." "He kept the club for 19 years without any money – nobody else could have done that. "I did a year's due diligence on the club and I realised that it needed three things. It was heavily in debt, it needs a big stadium and the commercial income was extremely low. "And for our club to compete in the North West of England, the new Hollywood of football with Guardiola, Mourinho and Klopp, we needed a star to stand on the touchline. That is Ronald Koeman. "We have paid the debts, we have a very strong balance sheet and we need a big stadium. "Those are the three priorities." Liv Echo

Everton's majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri was a special guest on the Jim White show on Monday. The British-Iranian billionaire suggested he had decided on the location of a new stadium, gave his backing to 'star' manager Ronald Koeman, and discussed his future aims for the club. On why he decided to invest in Everton:"It came under my radar during David Moyes’ time. The passion of supporters and the fearless display of players when playing the very big teams was a joy to watch. I was following the club from distance. Then I got to know Bill Kenwright. Bill educated me over the history, what the club is all about, and it is unique. For me, there was one big club left in England to buy and that is Everton. I fell in love with it." On his priorities for the club:
"For our club to compete in the north west of England, which is the new Hollywood of football with Guardiola, Mourinho and Klopp, we needed a star to stand on the touchline so we got Koeman. We needed to have a strong balance sheet so I have paid the debts so we have a very strong balance sheet, we are very flexible financially. And we need a big stadium, there is no question about it. These are the three priorities we had." On building a new stadium away from Goodison Park:"With the stadium, the fans must know we have done the hard bit. We have repaid the debts, we are free to do what we want, and we have the finances to do it. I went to Liverpool a few weeks ago with Bill. We visited all the sites with the Mayor. The club has taken sounding from the fans and, in our mind, we know where to go. We are committed. I can reassure fans they will have a stadium that rewards their loyalty and their passion for the club. That is my key aim." On his backing for manager Ronald Koeman:"We have no restrictions to spend. The manager is totally committed and ruthless; if a player is not up to it he uses another player and eventually he buys one. I support him. The job of the owner and chairman is simply to hire and fire a manager. The rest is down to him. Once we hire a manager, we back him. He keeps his counsel. He has the personality, the aura and the ability. We trust him. He achieved eighth and seventh with Southampton. He needs to improve on that. It is a difficult landscape now because a lot of clubs are getting new kit deals - £900million, £1billion - so we know it is difficult but there is always a way to compete and will find a way to compete. He [Koeman] is everything I wanted. Disciplined, experienced, a top coach. He has got the aura. He was one of top 50 all-time players. He is very direct and his sense of humour is Dutch!" On selling John Stones to Manchester City and summer recruitment:“The boy wanted to go. [Roberto] Martinez had promised him that he would go the following year. I still didn’t let him go until the manager said he could go. At the end of the day, I do what the manager wants. What is £47.5million? We tried to buy [Kalidou] Koulibaly from Napoli and they wanted £60million. Every defender in Europe now is £50million. It is just monopoly money, it doesn’t mean anything. We competed with Chelsea, we went right to the asking price, but the club didn’t sell – neither to us or to Chelsea. The manager had seven names, and four of those we got. He wanted a box-to-box midfielder and we matched [Moussa] Sissoko's asking price and actually paid more [than Tottenham] and all the terms were agreed and just before midnight we realised he had changed his mind. Lucas Perez was all ready to sign and Arsenal took him from us at the last minute." Talksport

Farhad Moshiri has suggested on talkSPORT that he has made his mind up over the location of Everton’s new stadium.
The British-Iranian billionaire, who became the Merseyside club’s majority shareholder earlier this year, has visited sites in Bramley Moore dock and Stonebridge Cross along with chairman Bill Kenwright in recent weeks.
Moshiri had made it one of his priorities to deliver a new ground and he has promised supporters their new home will be deserving of their loyalty and passion for the club.
In an exclusive interview with Jim White, he said: "With the stadium, the fans must know we have done the hard bit.
"We have repaid the debts, we are free to do what we want, and we have the finances to do it.
"I went to Liverpool a few weeks ago with Bill. We visited all the sites with the Mayor. The club has taken sounding from the fans and, in our mind, we know where to go. We are committed.
"I can reassure fans they will have a stadium that rewards their loyalty and their passion for the club. That is my key aim."
Goodison Park has been Everton's home since 1892, but Moshiri says building a new stadium is the only way the club will be able to increase their ambitions.
"We don’t have the flexibility that Chelsea and Manchester City had in the days prior to Financial Fair Play," he said.
"We can only spend what we spent last year, plus seven million pounds and increasing commercial income. So, the way to compete is a big stadium."
