Everton stadium latest Joe Anderson claims new ground 'close' and drops hint on locationThe Mayor of Liverpool took to Twitter to provide fans with an update Joe Anderson has claimed a new stadium for Everton is ‘closer than it’s ever been’ – and even dropped a hint over its potential location. Everton are exploring the possibility of building a new stadium on a docklands-based site or on land at Stonebridge Cross after plans to develop on Walton Hall Park were abandoned earlier this year. The Mayor of Liverpool – a life-long Blues supporter – responded to a supporter’s query on Twitter, providing an update on an announcement. He wrote: “It’s closer now than it was last month and closer now than it’s ever been. He then followed that up with a second tweet, which intimated the site could be the Bramley Moore dock, situated in the northern dock system in Vauxhall. “The Moore the merrier for me,” he tweeted, complete with a winking emoji. The dock was part of Peel’s £5.5billion ‘Liverpool Waters’ regeneration programme, which was announced in 2007. Bramley Moore dock closed in 1988 following the decline of the coal industry in south Lancashire, and has recently been used as a site for Sound City music festival. Liv Echo

If it's anything to do with Kenwright it won't happen. The supporters should be asked where they want the new stadium and with the supposed new financial backing we now have, where the stadium gets built should have nothing to do with mayor's or councils say so. Moshiri and Kenwright should put up or shut up. The stadium debate has gone on so long it's become a joke. If we can't get the dockland site then it's got to be Stanley Park or redevelopment of Goodison.
