This weekend brings a mini-derby double header as both our Under-18s and Under-21s take on Merseyside neighbours Liverpool. Everton Under-18s will kick-off proceedings on Saturday morning when they travel to Liverpool’s Kirkby Academy (11am), having lost just two games so far this season. John Doolan’s side sit top of the league standings, while the Reds are placed four points behind in third. “We haven't done anything different this week because we approach it like any other game, but obviously it's a massive one in terms of its meaning,” Doolan told evertonfc.com. “The lads have been doing really well and hopefully last week’s defeat at Wolves was just a little blip and we'll prove that on Saturday. “As much as the first team lads know about the derby, I think the younger lads know even more about it sometimes! The lads get to go to school with their mates, red and blue, and they know exactly what it means. "It will be a great place to come on Monday morning if we've both won but as long as we can play well and the lads do what we've asked of them, that's what we're looking for.” Meanwhile, David Unsworth’s Under-21s will be hoping they can come away with the bragging rights when they face our rivals from across Stanley Park at Langtree Park, St Helens, on Sunday afternoon (2pm). The Blues’ development squad have nine points from their opening eight games, while Liverpool sit bottom of the league with five points. Goals from Joe Williams, Conor McAleny and Tom Davies helped the young Toffees come back from 3-0 down to salvage a point when the two sides last met in August and Unsworth is anticipating another exciting clash. “The build-up this week has all been about Sunday,” he added. “They are great games to play in for our young lads and they are games that they really look forward to. Like I did as a player, I look forward to them as well, everybody does and it’ll be nice to take on the old enemy again.” Tickets for Sunday's Under-21s game are priced at £5 for adults and £3 for concessions (Under-16s and Over-60s). They can be purchased on the day at the turnstiles or online here. Or, to find out how our both teams fare, head back to evertonfc.com for match reports and reaction over the weekend.

There needs to come a time when these young players are allowed to play at Goodison or Anfield.

I hope Joe Williams behaves himself this time as his tackles were awful.

I saw them on Youtube and they weren't pretty.
