Crystal Palace v Everton Preview
Is there any hope for Crystal Palace at this stage? Three points on the board for ten games so far, rock bottom of the table and they still haven't named a new manager to replace Ian Holloway. Little surprise then that they are going as big underdogs for this one at Selhurst Park on Saturday. The Toffees have been going along nicely and they will be expected to breach the Eagles defence and take a comfortable three points back to Merseyside with them. Crystal Palace v Everton Betting Tips: The Eagles would be hoping for some easy fixtures to try and get themselves off the bottom, but this isn't one. They have lost their last two home matches in the Premiership against Everton 3-1 and that may be a good place to start at for your betting on this one. An Everton 3-1 Correct Score is trading at 11/1 with Betfair. However, if you are looking for some positives for Palace, nine of their last 10 Premier League matches have come at Selhurst Park. Their solitary points this season so far have come at home, when they took a 3-1 win over Sunderland back at the end of August. Other than that, it has been nine defeats on the season for the Eagles and many are calling them the poorest Premier League squad in the last decade. Harsh, but there has only been four home goals from this season (three of them coming in that victory over Sunderland) and they have shipped an average of two goals per game at Selhurst Park so far. You imagine that if Palace to get anything out of this game, then it is going to have to be in a low scoring match. Going Under 2.5 goals is offered up at a price of Even money with Betfair. Palace are without a goal in their last two as well, as they prepare to host the Toffees. Everton took a point from a home game against Tottenham last weekend, something that Roberto Martinez looked pretty happy with at the end of the day. It still means that the Merseysiders have lost just the one game this season. It has been a quiet and confident season from the Toffees who head into this one on the back of two clean sheets. That should suggest an Everton To Win To Nil wager for odds of 8/5 with Betfair, which looks to be a reasonable shot. The man most likely to do the damage is going to be Romelu Lukaku, who could bully the Eagles defence into submission. Lukaku is great value at Even money in the Anytime Goalscorer market. Can the Eagles get anything out of this? It is looking terribly likely, and on the road this season Everton have produced some good form, with a W2 D2 L1 record. They have also scored six goals in their last three away matches as well. Their only defeat of the season did come on the road, losing at the Etihad against Man City. If you want to look for value, six of Evertons ten matches in the top flight this season have been level at half time, which may warrant a consideration of a Draw/Everton Half Time/Full Time bet at odds of 6/4 with Betfair at odds of 3/1. One way or the other, it will be a surprise to many if Everton don't come away with three points on Saturday. Prediction Everton have produced some good stuff and they have enough attacking power from Leighton Baines through Kevin Mirallas and Romelu Lukaku to get the job done. Perhaps leaning towards there not being a hatful of goals in this one and just the value of Even money on Under 2.5 goals could be worth snapping up with Betfair. Form (all competitions) Crystal Palace LLLLLL, Everton LWLWWD Stat Attack Nine of Crystal Palaces last 10 Premier League wins have come at Selhurst Park Everton have gone four hours without conceding a goal in the Premier League Evertons last two Premier League trips to Selhurst Park produced 3-1 wins Palace are without a goal in their last two Premier League matches

If we want to give it a go this year we need to be putting the lower league teams to the sword and be fully committed and up for the game. We have a bad habit of dropping points to this kind of side and it will be just our luck if playing us ignites a change of fortunes for them. I'm going to go for a 1-1 draw with McCarthy to get a yellow and miss the derby game, Barry to get a red for a thunderous tackle on the referee and Howard to trip over his beard just as Coleman shoots a back pass into the wrong net. Otherwise we're laughing.
