I found it interesting that Brendan Rogers is apparently under pressure for his job. I wonder if Liverpool had suffered the same season as Everton did last year would he still be here.
Both managers came from small football clubs with no experience of fighting for honours, and in fairness both managers have shown good and bad, but you have to look at the 2 clubs and ask why neither have shown any consistency.
It will be a joy playing a Derby without Steven Gerrard, who time and again caused us problems.
Benteke out with a Hamstring (is it the Liverpool air?) and Henderson and Firmino missing, you have to think they are there for the taking. Our biggest problem will be Sturridge in my book, and keeping Milner and Coutinho quiet.
2-0 to Everton.

Everton v Liverpool: Martin Atkinson to referee first Goodison derby since controversial Jack Rodwell redWest Yorkshire official has taken charge of four previous Merseyside derby matches Martin Atkinson has been appointed referee for Sunday’s Merseyside derby. It will be the fifth time the West Yorkshire has officiated the clash between Liverpool and Everton – but his first at Goodison since he controversially dismissed Jack Rodwell in October 2011. Rodwell was given a straight red by the referee for an apparent foul on Luis Suarez, although the sending-off was later rescinded. Everton lost the match 2-0. Atkinson’s first derby was Liverpool’s 1-0 win at Anfield in February 2010 when he sent off Sotiros Kyrgiakos for a foul on Marouane Fellaini and Steven Pienaar for two bookable offences while brandishing yellow cards to five other players. The referee then took charge of the Anfield derby in 2014 when Liverpool romped to a 4-0 victory. Atkinson was also was the man in the middle in last season’s clash when Phil Jagielka’s thunderous injury-time strike equalised Steven Gerrard’s free-kick opener.

Tim Howard is targeting a fourth clean sheet of the season on Sunday - and believes doing so should ensure Everton emerge victorious in the 225th Merseyside derby. The United States international has kept Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur and Swansea City at bay so far this term - feats all the more impressive considering the number of enforced changes the Blues’ backline has undergone. And, with a Goodison clash with neighbours Liverpool next up this weekend, Howard insists the focus from front to back must be strong if the Toffees are to start turning derby draws into wins. "We have to continue to concentrate on our performance,” he told evertontv. "Mentally, we’re resilient, we’re tough and the squad is as deep as it’s ever been. More so than ever, we’re ready to perform and get the win - but that’s every week we feel that way, and it’s not something that will change for us.” Howard has been a Merseyside derby regular since his 2006 arrival at Goodison Park and is therefore accustomed to the unique build-up that goes hand-in-hand with the biannual fixture. And, for the 36-year-old glovesman, the atmosphere on such occasions is on a different level to anything he has experienced in his career. “Derbies have always been blood and thunder and always exciting games and I don’t think that’s changed, certainly not in my time here," he added. “They mean everything to the city, both Red and Blue, and it means everything to the players. “It’s electric, like nothing else. Some of my family haven’t been to one yet but I always tell them about it and I hope to get them to one in the next few years before I retire. "I try to tell them that because it’s something they won’t experience in their life outside those four walls."
