When Gary Naysmith left Hearts for Everton, he was heading into the unknown. He could have come across anyone and anything in the Blues’ dressing room – instead he found a whole load of fellow Scots! But, at 22, that was a welcome relief for the Toffees’ new left-back and he explains why in Saturday’s programme. “I think it helped me that I was young but that I had people like Dave Weir, Scott Gemmill and Alex Cleland there,” Naysmith reflects. “To have Scottish lads around who told me where they were all living certainly helped. I had a house pretty quickly and I think that helps you. I was quite fortunate that I became quite settled off the pitch straightaway. “Obviously Big Dunc was there too, Gazza played in Scotland and Richard Gough was there, so there was quite a strong Scottish group at that time.” Priced at £3.50, the issue also sees Naysmith explain how his spell at Goodison Park might have stretched to 10 years had the lure of regular football at Sheffield United not proved too strong and what he's taken from the managers he worked under now he's in the hotseat himself at East Fife. Joining Naysmith in the programme this week is Kevin Mirallas. The Belgian signed a new contract earlier this summer and talks about his ambitions going forward now that his Blues future is secured. Roberto Martinez and Phil Jagielka give their usual exclusive thoughts, while England cricket legend Alec Stewart explains how he became a Chelsea fan as part of our in-depth look at Saturday’s opponents. Everton’s ‘other’ teams are well covered, with Mateusz Hewelt, Beni Baningime and Jess King covering the latest news from the Under-21s, Under-18s and Ladies sides respectively. Available around Goodison Park before kick-off on Saturday, from Everton One and Everton Two, Evertonians can also purchase a digital copy or a subscription by clicking here. Fans can also purchase the latest Everton magazine featuring interviews with all of the Club's new signings, and James McCarthy. Elsewhere, Alan Ainscow takes a trip down memory lane and Leighton Baines answers YOUR questions. Pick up your copy for £3.50.
