TEAM NEWS:Everton manager Roberto Martinez is optimistic Brendan Galloway could return from injury in time to face Chelsea.
The defender, who was forced off against Manchester City with a patella problem, may feature against Jose Mourinho’s men, but Bryan Oviedo has picked up a knee concern and is likely to miss out.
Martinez also revealed Tom Cleverley could be back in six to eight weeks, while Darron Gibson has returned to full training.
Should either feature, deadline day signings Ramiro Funes Mori and Aaron Lennon could make their first and second Blues debuts.
Chelsea could be without goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois who injured his knee on his first day back at the club after international duty.
Elsewhere, new signings Papy Djilobodji and Baba Rahman would make their Chelsea debuts should they feature at Goodison Park.
FORM:Everton’s last outing saw them leave White Hart Lane with a hard earned point as Everton were held to a 0-0 draw. Tim Howard’s impressive performance in goal kept the Blues firmly in the game and despite a number of chances for both sides, they were forced to share the spoils.
The international break provided Everton’s players an opportunity to make an impression around the globe. Most notably, England’s fixture against San Marino saw Ross Barkley score his first senior goal for his country.
With a draw against Watford and defeat to Manchester City, the Toffees go in search of their first home win of the new campaign against a Chelsea side with only one win so far, a 3-2 triumph over West Brom.
Mourinho’s side arrive at Goodison Park off the back of defeats to Manchester City and Crystal Palace – the latter only the second loss under the Portuguese at Stamford Bridge.
With a place in European competition this season, the Londoners did not feature in the second round of the Capital One Cup, but will hope to make a winning start away at Walsall towards the end of the month.
LAST MEETING: Chelsea 1-0 Everton, 11 February 2015
Willian’s last-minute winner sent Chelsea seven points clear at the top of the table and consigned Everton to 12th position.
In an often bad tempered game, Gareth Barry saw red after a second yellow was given for a challenge on eventual goalscorer Willian.
The resulting free-kick saw Howard punch the ball away, only as far as the Brazilian who volleyed the ball low into the corner.
CLASSIC MEETING: Everton 3-2 Chelsea, 20 March 1909
A fourth hat-trick of the season for Everton centre forward Bert Freeman saw the Toffees record their first home victory over Chelsea.
Freeman’s treble saw him reach 33 goals for the season, of an eventual 38 that broke the record for the most goals in the Football League in a single campaign.
The forward had twice put Everton ahead, but Chelsea’s equalisers - one a disputed penalty - kept the West Londoners in a game described as one of the brightest and most enjoyable games seen that season.
There was little to choose between the two sides in the second half, until the ball landed at the feet of Freeman who, from Tim Coleman's pass, hooked the ball into the net to snatch victory.
MAN OF THE MOMENT: Pedro
Chelsea’s summer signing, Pedro, was a player in high demand during the transfer window. Mourinho though managed to poach him just as it looked like a deal was about to be agreed between Barcelona and Manchester United.
The Spanish international has already made an impact at his new club, scoring the opening goal on his debut in Chelsea’s 3-2 win against West Brom - only three days after signing his four-year contract.
A decorated career has seen him win 20 major honours - including La Liga title five times and the UEFA Champions League on three occasions.
