Just a wee reminder that this is a friendly preseason warm up Not long ago it mattered not who we played where we played how we played nor what score it was Cause we all had lives in the summer away from the trauma of being a Evertonion Gone are the days

Just a wee reminder that this is a friendly preseason warm up Not long ago it mattered not who we played where we played how we played nor what score it was Cause we all had lives in the summer away from the trauma of being a Evertonion Gone are the days If it was taken as a one off I would be inclined to agree but it's not. There was an all too familiar stink of slow build up and lack of creation. He hasn't learned anything

What a long day. It would be nice to win the event but can't see us getting much against the Gunners. We lack firepower and once again couldn't put the ball in the net in 90 minutes which is testament to needing another forward. Gery had a few good chances and Lukaku did too but I'd like to see a player hold everything together in the middle of the park and we don't have that. Hopefully we can find somebody in the transfer window.

I'm not a big believer in players using preseason as an excuse to be poor. Same for both teams and the season only ended in May.

Shootout Composure Delights MartinezRoberto Martinez praised his players' penalty shootout composure after Everton scored five perfect spot-kicks to beat Stoke City and move into the Barclays Asia Trophy final. The two teams could not be separated over 90 minutes - but it was the Blues who progressed following successful 12-yard efforts from Romelu Lukaku, Tom Cleverley, John Stones, Gerard Deulofeu and Phil Jagielka at the Singapore National Stadium. Everton will now play Arsenal in the final at the same venue on Saturday (1.30pm kick-off). “It was a good game for both - Stoke and ourselves will have got a lot out of it in terms of preparation,” Martinez told evertontv post-match. “When we got to the decisive penalty shootout, it was good that we scored every single one of them. The concentration was terrific and Tim Howard was at his very best. “It was great to see the composure from the players. It’s good now to look forward to the final.” Martinez admits his team lacked a cutting edge in front of goal during the regular 90 minutes but he was satisfied his players managed to carve out several opportunities against fellow Premier League opposition. Another fillip is that the Toffees are yet to concede a goal from their first two pre-season fixtures, following the 4-0 victory at Swindon last weekend. Martinez added: “You can see signs that all the volume we have been putting in throughout pre-season already is showing. “We are missing a little bit of sharpness, finding the final pass or in front of goal. But the hardest thing in football is to create chances and so what was very good was to see the clear-cut chances that we made. “Stoke had a couple as well and in the later stages it was an open game. Whoever we face in the final, it’s a terrific trophy to compete for.”
