I've started to get back into reading again. I do enjoy History especially around the 1500s but two books I've really enjoyed are both by the same author, Niall Ferguson. Civiliasation, which is a very interesting look into why the western world has progressed to be so dominate and Empire about the rise of the British Empire. The two books are in depth but not overwhelming. The next book I want to buy from him is the history of money.
What books are you guys reading?

Recent (ie last decade) good Historical reads:
'At The Court of the Red Czar' 2vols by Simon Sebag Montifiorri. Stalin, from cradle to grave and very readable. 'Britain BC' by Francis Prior, covers many aspects of our identity. '1421 : The Year China Discovered the World' by Gavin Menzies. Eye Opener. 'The Dream of Rome' by Boris Johnson....wish he'd stick to writing.

You'll laugh, but I have over 2000 hard back first editions from my days of collecting them, yet never read any. The last one I read was a Jeremy Clarkson book. As a kid I liked White Fang by Jack London.

I read a magazine every month (well 2 actually). One called How it works, and another one from the same company called World of animals.
