David Moyes eats crisps with fan after being sent to Real Sociedad stand
David Moyes made light of his first sending off since taking over as Real Sociedad manager when he leapt over a fence into the stands to watch the rest of the match and accepted crisps from a girl sitting behind him.
Moyes was sent off for a protesting against an offside decision with around 10 minutes remaining of Sociedad’s Copa del Rey last-16, second leg at home to Villarreal. The former Manchester United and Everton manager prompted smiles among home fans and a wave of Twitter comments when he showed impressive agility to scale the fence and find a vacant seat. After accepting the crisps, he turned down the offer of what looked like sunflower seeds from another supporter.
Sociedad drew the match at their Anoeta stadium in San Sebastian 2-2 and were eliminated 3-2 on aggregate, their latest reverse to Villarreal, who thrashed the Basque club 4-0 in La Liga last month. Sociedad are 12th in La Liga with just under half the season played, but only three points above the relegation places, and Moyes has said that securing the club’s top-flight status is his main priority.

Manager David Moyes says Real Sociedad are "working very hard" to strengthen their squad in the transfer window.
The Scot, appointed in November, has been linked with a move for Burnley striker Danny Ings but he refused to be drawn on the move in a news conference.
"I can't comment on individual players because I don't want to destabilise my club or another club," said Moyes, 51.
"We've only got two weeks left and we're working hard to try to get players in."
La Real have yet to add to their squad in Moyes's first transfer window in charge.
Ings is out of contract this summer and is now free to negotiate with interested clubs.
The 22-year-old has scored six goals in 18 league starts this season and could leave Turf Moor for a compensation payment of just over £200,000.
His acquisition would take the burden off Sociedad's leading scorer Carlos Vela, whose seven strikes make up more than a third of his side's 19 league goals this term.

Real Sociedad 0-1 Rayo VallecanoAlberto Manucho 81 Real Sociedad’s bid to climb away from the La Liga relegation places suffered a setback when they were beaten 1-0 at home by Rayo Vallecano and were roundly whistled by their own fans. Sociedad have stabilised since the former Manchester United and Everton manager David Moyes took over in November after a poor start to the campaign but their latest setback comes after they were knocked out of the Copa del Rey by Villarreal on Wednesday. Rayo secured the points at Sociedad’s Anoeta stadium in San Sebastián when the former Manchester United forward Manucho outjumped the home defence at an 81st-minute corner and headed past Geronimo Rulli. It was no more than Rayo deserved after a generally poor performance from Sociedad, who lacked creativity and penetration in attack, and showed Moyes has plenty of work to do if the Basques are to secure their top-flight status. After whistles rang out around the ground on the final whistle, the defender Ion Ansotegi told Spanish television he could not explain why Sociedad had managed to beat Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atlético Madrid at the Anoeta but were unable to see off sides of lesser calibre. “We give everything on the pitch and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t so we just have to congratulate the opponent and admit they played better,” he said. “We are battling in the bottom half of the table and it’s been a very poor first half of the season so we just have to work on improving.” With their campaign at the halfway mark, Sociedad are 12th on 19 points from 19 matches, three points above the drop zone. Rayo are ninth on 23 points.

David Moyes’s Real Sociedad return to form with narrow win over Eibar
Real Sociedad 1-0 Eibar Real Sociedad's Xabi Prieto, right, fights for the ball with Eibar's Mikel Arruabarrena in the La Liga game on Saturday night. Real Sociedad returned to form thanks to Xabi Prieto’s goal in the second half that sealed victory over Eibar in La Liga. The result was a welcome three points for David Moyes after last weekend’s late home loss to Rayo Vallecano. Sociedad started brightly and mustered the better of the early chances. Prieto headed Carlos Vela’s free-kick just wide in the seventh minute. The Sociedad goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli had to be alert in the 32nd minute to keep out a Saul blast, but that – along with a comfortable save from Mikel Arruabarrena shortly after – was all that was required of him in the first half. Ten minutes into the second period Prieto headed Rubén Pardo’s corner into the top-right corner.
