Saturday proved a bad day for Everton’s youngsters out on loan. Starting with Connor Hunt’s debut for Vanarama Conference North club Hyde, the young goalkeeper was given plenty of work to do by Chorley. Proceedings had started well for the visiting Hyde, who raced into a two-goal lead only for the hosts to not only draw level but then go ahead, running out 3-2 winners. Stepping up into League Two and Bury also shipped three goals, to Newport County. Exiles striker Aaron O’Connor did the damage with a hat-trick, with Danny Rose replying for the Shakers. Blues duo Hallam Hope and the now recalled Coutney Duffus were unused, with the former not involved at all after struggling with a lack of match action of late. Midfielder John Lundstram was also left out by Championship side Blackpool as they drew 1-1 with Bolton Wanderers. New Tangerines boss Lee Clark has signed the likes of Jamie O’Hara and Chris Eagles in recent weeks, increasing the competition for places for Lundstram, who was not in the matchday 18 on this occasion. There was better news up in Scotland as Matthew Kennedy played in Hibernian’s incredible 6-3 win at Dumbarton. Unfortunately, Kennedy’s outing was limited to just the final four minutes of the nine-goal thriller, as a Dominique Malonga treble helped Alan Stubbs’ side record their fifth straight away win.
