Everton have been successful in their appeal against the red card shown to Dominic Calvert-Lewin in their FA Cup third-round draw at Crystal Palace.
The striker, 26, was facing a three-match ban for a challenge on Palace defender Nathaniel Clyne which led to the first red card of his career.
But the Football Association (FA) has overturned the dismissal and Calvert-Lewin can return to action immediately.
The Blues next host Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday (14:00 GMT).
Referee Chris Kavanagh originally took no action but reviewed the incident on the pitchside monitor following an intervention from video assistant referee (VAR) Michael Salisbury before showing Calvert-Lewin the red card in the 79th minute.
"I have no clue what that [monitor] is there for," said Everton manager Sean Dyche following the game.
"Every fan must be going 'what is the point?' We all know the outcome, they are going to agree with everything they're being told.
"The chance of having something turned over is miniscule so why even bother?
"I'm a fan [of VAR] but we're all aware it needs tidying up. I thought it was getting tidied up but it seems to have stepped back a little bit. I remain a fan, but it is beginning to test my patience."
The tie finished goalless and the two sides face a replay at Goodison Park on 17 January.

This is an example of why nobody trusts them.
How hard was it to get it right at the time? Had we lost, what then?

I think the referee's get it right more than wrong , but when VAR get's involved , they haven't the cahunas to stick to their guns.

Was a ridiculous decision, rescinding the decision doesn't hide the fact we were on top and looking likely to win before he went off

The Everton striker saw the controversial red card he received in last week’s goalless FA Cup tie at Crystal Palace upheld on Tuesday, due to wrongful dismissal. His challenge on Nathaniel Clyne was ruled as dangerous foul play following the intervention of VAR but Everton’s successful appeal means the striker will no longer serve a three-match suspension.
However, under FA regulations, Calvert-Lewin’s red card will remain on his record meaning the 26-year-old will serve an extra one-match suspension should he receive another dismissal this season.
Reacting to the news, Brazil was astonished that the striker was still being punished despite the red card being overturned.
“For me that’s bonkers, absolute nonsense,” he told talkSPORT.
Co-host Gabby Agbonlahor agreed with Brazil saying: “That doesn’t make sense because if they’ve rescinded the red card then it’s off the record.”
Everton will hope their striker continues his exemplary disciplinary record throughout the second half of the season to ensure the controversy surrounding the dismissal does not play any part in their quest to maintain top-flight status.
Calvert-Lewin had never been sent off in his career before the incident at Selhurst Park and boss Sean Dyche will have every faith that the England international will finish the season unscathed.
