Everton director of football operations, David Harrison, will leave the Merseyside club after 27 years of association and join Premier League rivals Manchester United. While the likes of Kevin Thelwell are the protagonists of the club operations, the Toffees have had some of the most amazing ‘behind the scenes’ officials at the club.
Harrison, popularly known as ‘Contract Dave’ is set to depart for Manchester United at the end of February to become their new director of football operations. Harrison will reunite with John Murtough who worked as a sports scientist and director of development at Finch Farm.
Harrison was appointed as Everton’s director of football operations in June 2018. He has been with the Toffees for the past 27 years, where he was the club secretary for 16 years and prior to that he served as the manager of ticket office for seven years.
On joining Manchester United, Harrison firstly thanked Everton and wished them best for the future and at the same time expressed excitement at taking over the role at Manchester United.
I’m excited to be taking this role at time of such opportunity and promise for Manchester United. I will always cherish my memories of 27 years at Everton and wish everyone at Goodison and Finch Farm all the best for the future.
“Now, my focus is on helping Manchester United create the best possible operating environment to support success on the pitch. (via Manchester Evening News)
With Harrison leaving at the end of the month, EFC will be looking for a replacement soon. In the meantime, his duties will be picked up by deputy director of football operations at Goodison Park, Jonathan Williams, who will work in tandem with Thelwell.
The Merseyside club also released a statement, thanking him for his dedication and service and wishing him best for the future ahead.
