Everton Under-18s midfielder, Imam Jagne recently terminated his contract at the Merseyside club. He stated that he felt he was ‘no longer developing’ as a footballer and needed a move in order to continue his route to professional football. The midfielder joined Everton in 2020, signing from the Swedish side, BK Hecken Gothenburg, where he made 1 appearance off the bench at 16, for a price believed to be about £1.35 million, a large fee for a player that had just turned 17 at the time [via Transfermarkt]. Upon his signing, then-manager of EFC’s under-23s, David Unsworth described the Swede as ‘a great athlete’, speaking very highly of the midfielder [via Liverpool Echo]: “He’s going to be a great athlete. He can handle the ball, he’s a great presser of the ball.” “I’d say when he develops and matures he will be more of a box-to-box midfielder. He’s got great energy and you don’t want to bog him down into a holding midfield role.”
