Jack Barrett has signed a new one-year contract

Everton Academy goalkeeper Jack Barrett has signed a new one-year contract until the end of June 2023.

The 20-year-old joined the Club’s Academy aged nine and has worked his way up through the age groups, making two Premier League 2 appearances for the Under-21s last season.

After penning his new deal, Barrett is aiming for more starts in 2022/23 and to challenge a talented pool of goalkeepers which includes Harry Tyrer, Billy Crellin and Zan-Luk Leban.

“I'm very proud," Barrett told evertonfc.com. "It's a big moment for me and my family. I've been at the Club for a long time now and it's a great feeling to be staying for another year.

"It means a lot, especially as an Evertonian myself.

"There's a good group of goalkeepers in the Under-21s but I just want to train hard and play as many games as possible.

"I'm also looking forward to working with [new Under-21s Head Coach] Paul Tait again. I did my scholarship under him and I really enjoyed working with him.

"There's always a good atmosphere amongst the lads working with him. He likes to have that positive environment - and he likes to play good football as well."

Everton Director of Football, Kevin Thelwell, added: “Having been with our Academy since the age of nine, Jack has progressed through our Academy and this new contract allows him to continue that journey.

“We are confident he will keep developing, working with our Under-21s coaching staff and a very talented crop of goalkeepers we have at that age group.”
