Everton are in talks with starlet Lewis Warrington over a new deal to extend his stay on Merseyside, according to the Liverpool Echo. A product of the Toffees’ academy set-up, the young midfielder’s current contract with the club expires in the summer. The 19-year old is currently on loan at League Two side Tranmere Rovers, whom he joined in the January window in a bid to clock up first team experience. With his deal running out at the end of the season, the Toffees are eager to extend the stay of the midfielder, who is seen as a prospect for the future. To that end, the Toffees are in ongoing talks with Warrington and his representatives over a new deal for him at Goodison Park. Warrington has been earning praise during his spell at Prenton Park, so far making 12 appearances and scoring a goal and assist each. He has not missed a match for Tranmere since early February and played the full 90 minutes in five of their last six games, helping them in their pursuit of the playoff places. Before leaving for Tranmere, the Everton youngster also started 12 games for the Toffees Under-23s in the league, not missing a match for them in the last three months before departing on loan. insidefutbol.com/

Lewis Warrington is on the verge of signing a new deal with Everton.
The 19-year-old's current deal at Goodison Park will expire in the summer. Warrington, who has spent the season on loan at Tranmere Rovers, has received interest from other clubs as a possible free agent in the summer.
However, The Athletic understands he will sign a new contract to tie him to Everton beyond the end of the season. It could be completed officially as early as next week.
Warrington has made 17 appearances in League Two on loan at Tranmere, scoring one goal and providing two assists. He came through the academy at Everton and is a big fan of the Merseyside club — but is yet to make his senior debut for the side.
He has received significant praise for performances at Tranmere. Manager Micky Mellon said: “He’s capable of knowing when to link up with the front men and he’s capable of driving that midfield at back fours.
“That is something, as a 19-year-old. That’s all he is and he’ll develop as he goes along.”
