Wayne Rooney has revealed he turned down an approach from boyhood club Everton for the vacant managerial role.
Rooney revealed the news during his press conference on Friday ahead of current club Derby County's game against Birmingham City, where he admitted that whilst he feels ready to take on a top-flight managerial role, his priority is his current role.

He's doing ok there and I think he'll learn a lot this season if he stays there. Lampard is a bit of the same and unsure if he is going to be able to influence the boardroom. I don't get the Kenwright hate either, as he still works hard for the club. If anything it's the decisions from Moshiri that is causing a problem.

Frank Lampard has been formally offered the job as Everton manager, with the appointment expected to be completed in the next 24 hours.
Contracts are now being drawn up to finalise the arrival of the former Chelsea and Derby boss at Goodison Park.
Lampard became the leading candidate on Friday after Everton held a final round of talks with their candidates.
