Rafa Benitez says he has a "problem" that referee Stuart Atwell failed to award a free-kick for a foul on Jordan PIckford in the build-up to West Ham's winning goal.
The Everton goalkeeper was challenged by Michail Antonio and conceded a corner at the Park End, mid-way through the second-half. Benitez said: “I have a problem because I am from Spain and normally in Europe the six-yard box is to protect the keeper. When you have a player blocking the keeper in the six-yard area it is a free-kick - and then you can argue whether there is a corner or not. You have to protect him.
"I will not change the perception so the way we concede, after we concede, we have to react and we have to improve. I spoke to the fourth official but they have their own idea and I will not change that after so many years.
"Why do you have the six-yard box? It is there for the keeper. The keeper sometimes goes for the ball and you cannot see what is coming from one side, which is why you have the six-yard box and not just for goal-kicks."

Everton defender Michael Keane has insisted that the club did not “need a reality check” and they will not get “too down” about their defeat to West Ham This result leaves them eighth in the Premier League. Keane has told the club’s official website that Everton need to “keep calm heads” after the loss to West Ham: “I don’t think it’s a reality check. People can say what they want – we know what we’re about and we know we can give anybody a game on our day. We didn’t need a reality check. We’ve lost and we won’t get too down about it,” said Keane.
“In the same way, we’ve won games so far this season and haven’t got too high about it.
“We need to keep calm heads, take one game at a time and see where it takes us.
“We know we’ve got quality in the squad and if we can get consistency maintain intensity in our performances, with a bit more quality than we showed, then we’ll stay at the top end of the table.”
West Ham’s winning goal was controversial. It came from a corner but replays showed that a goal kick should have been awarded.
Keane added: “I think Jordan felt like he punched it onto Antonio’s head. I’ve seen a quick replay and it’s hard to tell from it, but at the time I thought it was a goal-kick.
“I think the commitment and work ethic was there but maybe not the same intensity we’ve shown and West Ham were winning a lot of second balls.
“It’s definitely an opportunity missed because we could have gone into the top four and we see West Ham as one of our rivals in the league this year, so it was an important game. But, at the same time, it’s still early in the season and we’ve got loads of games to play.
“It’s all about how we pick ourselves up and bounce back from here now.
