Everton Under-23s boss David Unsworth hailed his team’s “scintillating football” after the young Blues racked up a 6-1 friendly win at National League North side Bradford Park Avenue on Wednesday night.
After falling behind at Horsfall Stadium, Everton hit back in fine style to secure a third straight pre-season victory.
Strike pair Tom Cannon and Lewis Dobbin were again in impressive goalscoring form for the young Blues.
Republic of Ireland youth international Cannon hit a brace – he has now scored in all four of the pre-season matches he has played this summer, including in the First-Team’s practice match win over Accrington Stanley on 10 July.
Dobbin, meanwhile, came into the game on the back of successive hat-tricks in the Under-23s’ friendly successes over Warrington Rylands and Guiseley and was on target once more at Bradford Park Avenue.
Kyle John, Sebastian Kristensen and Eli Campbell were also on the scoresheet for Unsworth's side.
“It was another top performance,” manager Unsworth told evertonfc.com.
“We conceded a poor defensive goal, but we worked out what to do.
“We scored some very good goals again, and we managed to be able to get vital minutes into a lot of players from the whole squad.
“It was another great performance and a great win. I’m delighted with the manner of how we’re playing.”
Everton Under-23s have scored 14 goals over the course of their three friendly matches so far this summer – and Unsworth praised his squad’s capacity to successfully implement the tactical and technical work done on the training pitches at USM Finch Farm come matchday.
“We’ve changed our shape this season and we want to play in a certain way,” he added.
“I’ve been really impressed with how the lads have taken to that.
“Some of the football has been scintillating, it really has.”
