Everton ended their Women's Super League with a narrow 2-0 defeat to Manchester United on Sunday.
An early strike from Ella Toone meant the Toffees found themselves chasing the game.
Willie Kirk's side challenged the hosts throughout but a late header from Kirsty Hanson ended the Blues' hopes of a point.
Everton started the game well but within six minutes they found themselves behind.
Toone got on the end of a ball over the top and struck on the half volley. Sandy MacIver dived low but it was just out of reach as it arrived into the far corner.
Everton continued to press for an equaliser and came close on the 40th minute.
Nicoline Sørensen and Hayley Raso linked up well along the right flank. The latter played it across to find Poppy Pattinson at the far side of box. She connected with the header but it went wide.
Four minutes later Claire Emslie charged up the park and broke past the defender. She decided to go herself and shoot but it arrived over the bar.
Into the second half and the Toffees started on the forefront. Izzy Christiansen picked up a yard of space along the right and sent a high dipping shot into the far corner but it was gathered by Mary Earps.
Raso thought she had secured our equaliser when she unleashed a shot from range after 66 minutes. However, it took a deflection off the defender and arrived inches wide of the top left corner.
United found their second after 89 minutes. A corner was sent in as Hanson rose to meet it and headed it home to seal the win for the hosts.
Focus now turns to the Vitality FA Cup as Everton travel to Chelsea on Thursday 20 May.
