£10.8m-rated Santiago Arias could play for Everton next seasonFollowing a poor finish to the 2019/20 Premier League, as they ended the campaign in 12th position with 49 points on the table, English club Everton are now determined to fix their dip in form, as they plan to strengthen their team ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.
If the reports currently surging the media are to be believed, the Merseysiders might just be close to completing their next signing of the summer transfer window.
The Toffees, seemingly keen on strengthening their team, have been reported via the
Daily Mail to have reached advanced stages in talks over the possible signing of Atletico's Santiago Arias.
Everton Boss Carlo Ancelotti is said to be keen on transforming the team to his style of play, by making changes to the squad 'before' the start of the new season, which is quickly approaching, and providing potential competition for right-back Seamus Coleman is one of the positions he is considering.
The fixtures for the 2020-21 Premier League campaign were announced yesterday, and the Toffees will be travelling to the White Hart Lane for their season opener. This match will be tough for both teams, but providing there are changes to Ancelotti's squad,
making predictions for btts (both team to score) should still be probable, as the team will not be begin the campaign with the intention of losing, instead looking to claim all three points.
Jonjoe Kenny, who returned to the club from Bundesliga club Schalke 04, could well be part of Ancelotti's plans for next season, but that won't stop the manager moving for a player that the club director Marcel Brands has had dealings with in the past.
The 28-year-old Colombian right-back was reported to have been signed by Brands at Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven, where he was able to lift three Eredivisie league titles.
With this, Brands is noted to be a huge fan of the Colombian, seeing as he was able to ask the board to sign him, in order to strengthen Ancelotti's defence, after calling the player a perfect defender back in 2015.
Brands stated: “He is the perfect model of the modern defender: pacy, powerful and attack-minded. There are not many players with such qualities.”
Dutch journalist Rik Elfrink also backed the comment, at the time stating that Arias was one of the best defenders in the Dutch league, and a move to the English Top Flight will be very favourable for his career.
Taken under the wings of Diego Simone at Atletico Madrid, he featured in 18 games last season, starting eleven of them, which is less than his debut season with the Spanish club. Despite only 11 starts, he was still able to record his best ever tackle season, with 2.6 successive tackle per game since the 2015-16 campaign, averaging 1.4 interceptions and 0.8 key passes in the process, according to the stats available on WhoScored.
As prolific as Arias might be during the 19.20 campaign, he is still valued at £10.8 million by Transfermarkt which should prove easy for the Toffees to bring out for the Colombia international this summer transfer window.
