Claims from Spain on Friday state that Unai Emery has rejected the chance to take charge of Everton. Marca brings a story saying the Toffees were the first to knock on his door, but the manager has thanked them for the opportunity and said he needs more time before taking a new job. The Spanish newspaper reports Emery considers it to be too early to take charge of a new Premier League side, since it’s not been so long since he left Arsenal I didn't see anything from him to suggest he'd do a good job for us.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Everton decision-makers have talked 'at length' about making Manchester City assistant boss Mikel Arteta their new boss.
It's claimed that the Everton board have yet to really settle on their top choice to replace Marco Silva, who was sacked earlier this month.
However, they have now identified Arteta as a potential candidate, with board members discussing the possibility of a move for the Spaniard. Arteta is also being linked with Arsenal, and it's noted that Everton could face a battle with the Gunners for him, but Everton director of football Marcel Brands has a strong relationship with City counterpart Txiki Begiristain, which could help.
Arteta, 37, became an Everton favourite in his playing days, first joining on loan from Real Sociedad in 2005 before joining permanently just months later.
The former midfielder racked up more than 200 appearances for Everton, scoring 34 goals for the club before leaving to join Arsenal in 2011.

Everton held talks with Carlo Ancelotti on Monday as the club continues the search for Marco Silva’s successor. The discussions were said to have been positive and the two parties are planning further talks soon.
Duncan Ferguson gives Everton a plan but hunger will get them only so far Silva was sacked on 6 December after a 5-2 defeat against Liverpool and Everton have been working on finding a replacement ever since. The caretaker manager, Duncan Ferguson, has overseen two games, beating Chelsea 3-1 at home before drawing away at Manchester United on Sunday.
Ancelotti left Napoli on Tuesday 10 December after poor domestic form had seen them falling behind Inter and Juventus in Serie A and the fact that he had taken the team into the last 16 of the Champions League on the same night was not enough to save his job.
Ancelotti would relish a return to the Premier League, having managed Chelsea between 2009 and 2011, winning the Premier League and FA Cup double in 2010.
