Gylfi Sigurdsson has urged Everton to stick together after their latest defeat piled the pressure on boss Marco Silva. Sunday's last-gasp 2-1 loss at Leicester left the Toffees just two points above the Premier League drop zone. They go to leaders Liverpool on Wednesday for the Merseyside derby with Silva clinging to his job. Sigurdsson easily the laziest player in the squad. I hope he doesn't play in the Liverpool game.

I agree. How he's getting the captain's armband is beyond logic. It can only be an attempt to invigorate him.

Silva confirmed Theo Walcott will be fit to face the European champions.
However, the former Watford and Hull City boss also stated that Seamus Coleman will not be fit while Fabian Delph isn’t training with his teammates:
“Theo Walcott will be fit for tomorrow. Seamus Coleman will not be fit and Fabian Delph is not training with his teammates. We will see how they are.”

THE ANFIELD HOODOO
It was way back in 1999 - more than 20 years ago - that Everton last enjoyed the sweet taste of victory across Stanley Park.
On that day, Kevin Campbell struck after just four minutes to hand the visitors a hard-fought 1-0 win as Sander Westerveld, Francis Jeffers and Steven Gerrard were all sent off and defender Steve Staunton ended up in goal for the Reds.
It was a memorable day for fans of Walter Smith's side, but Evertonians have had very little to cheer since. Their last 19 league visits to Anfield have resulted in 10 defeats and nine draws. They also drew an FA Cup clash in 2009 before winning the replay at Goodison Park, but 2018 saw them dumped out in the third round by a late Virgil van Dijk header.
It's no surprise that Monday night's FA Cup draw, which saw the two teams paired together in the third round at Anfield again, was met with a sense of despair by those of a blue persuasion.
EVERTON'S WINNING DROUGHT
Nineteen. That's how many times Everton have faced Liverpool without a win.
Their last Merseyside derby triumph came way back in October, 2010, when Tim Cahill and Mikel Arteta scored at Goodison to give David Moyes' men a 2-0 victory.
Unsurprisingly, this current run is the longest Everton have ever gone without a derby win.
In that time, Liverpool have won nine of their 17 Premier League meetings and drawn the other eight. The Reds also have two FA Cups wins against their neighbours, having defeated them in the 2012 semi-finals as well as last year's third round.
Everton's 17-game winless streak in the Premier League is their third-longest against an opponent too.
The Blues went 18 games without a win against Chelsea between December 1998 and December 2009, and 19 against Manchester United between September 1992 and August 2004.
That 17-game run is also Liverpool's longest unbeaten streak against any team in the history of the Premier League. LIVERPOOL LOVE GOODISON
Travelling Liverpool supporters can be confident of a victory when they visit Everton in mid-March. After all, they have the best record of any side at Goodison Park.
The Reds have won an incredible 33 league games across Stanley Park, two more than Arsenal and five more than Manchester United.
March's fixture will be the 101st league Merseyside derby at Goodison, meaning Liverpool can currently boast a record of almost one win every three visits.
Their last victory came back in 2016, when Sadio Mane's 94th-minute strike earned Jurgen Klopp's men a dramatic 1-0 victory.
However, five of the last seven meetings at Goodison have been drawn. MORE SCARY STATISTICS
Liverpool have not lost a midweek game to Everton since 1985 and have equalled the best ever start to a season after 14 games, winning 13 and drawing one.
Klopp's men have not suffered a Premier League defeat at Anfield in 47 games, having last lost against Crystal Palace way back in April, 2017.
Everton, on the other hand, are the only side to have lost at least seven of their previous 10 league games and have not won away at a top six side in their last 34 attempts, having drawn 11 and lost 23.
They have also never won a top-flight game under Silva after going behind, losing 19 and drawing just four.
