André Gomes played for an hour in an 11-a-side match at Finch Farm this afternoon as he nears a complete comeback from a broken ankle. The Portuguese suffered a fracture dislocation of his right ankle in the Premier League game against Tottenham less than four months ago but could be passed fit to be named in the match-day squad to face Arsenal next weekend.
Everton announced that Gomes played the full 60 minutes of a game made up for first-team and Under-23 players at the club's Halewood training facility without any trouble
It represents a remarkably swift recovery from a horrific injury that, at the time, looked like it might have ended his season.

Despite fears from fans that Gomes could miss the remainder of the season, the midfielder is back in training.
Now, Carlo Ancelotti has even suggested that Gomes could start against Arsenal this weekend. Speaking ahead of the clash with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal this weekend, Ancelotti confirmed Gomes came through a practice match unscathed over the weekend.
He then revealed that Gomes is available for selection this weekend, and would prefer to start the player, rather than bringing him off the bench.
“He did well [in the weekend practice match], he played comfortably and without any problems and he is available, in my opinion, to play,” Ancelotti explained, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.
“Of course, I have to speak to him about how he feels after playing his first game following a long time out.
“My personal opinion is he is ready to play.
“When a player has been out for a long period, I think it is better to start the game.
“He can prepare properly, [rather] than to put him on from the bench.
“But I have to speak to him and together we can find a solution.”
