Everton’s Neal Maupay is attracted to the idea of joining Marseille, but the Toffees may need to subsidise his wages to make it happen. That’s according to L’Equipe, who report that the French side like Maupay and would welcome his arrival, but only at the right price. The newspaper reports that the recent injury to Faris Moumbagna has forced Marseille to look at the market for number nines once again. Neal Maupay is set to seal his Everton exit before the transfer deadline. Maupay has failed to impress during a two-year spell at Goodison Park in which he scored just one goal in 32 appearances since joining from Brighton. The French striker, who spent last season on loan with Brentford, is in the process of finalising a move to Marseille on an initial season-long loan. A return to his homeland will be worth an initial £5 million to the Blues while an obligation to make the deal permanent will pocket the club £8.4M overall. The club will also retain a 20% sell-on clause as part of the deal which comes a week after Maupay was engaged in a verbal spat with several irate fans.
