David Wagner returns to Schalke as managerFormer Huddersfield boss David Wagner has taken charge of Bundesliga side Schalke on a three-year deal. Wagner played for Schalke between 1995 and 1997 - and he will start work in his new role this summer. Schalke have endured a disappointing 2018/19 season and are 15th in the Bundesliga with two games left to play. They did reach the last 16 of the Champions League but then lost 10-2 on aggregate to Manchester City - albeit after giving a good account of themselves in the first leg. Wagner told the club website: "I know from my own experience as a player, the strength that Schalke 04 can develop when team, club and fans pull together. Wagner enjoyed tremendous success as head coach of Huddersfield, leading them to promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs in 2017, and then keeping the club in the top flight for another season. However, he resigned in January after a poor start to a campaign which has ended in relegation for the Yorkshire club. Source - Skysports.com
