Marco Silva held his pre-match press conference on Thursday afternoon ahead of this weekend's trip to Newcastle United. The Blues boss addressed the media from USM Finch Farm to preview the Blues' clash at St James' Park on Saturday, as his side aim to build on successive clean sheets in the 3-0 win at Cardiff City and last Sunday's goalless draw in the Merseyside derby. Key points included: - Looking at Everton's remaining nine Premier League games as 'finals' and playing with the same intensity as last weekend's derby at Goodison. - Building on the momentum from the success in south Wales and the performance against Liverpool. - The tough test posed by 'solid' Newcastle, who have won four straight matches at St James' Park. - Leighton Baines (back) is still out injured, while Phil Jagielka has missed the past two training sessions. Newcastle will be without Sean Longstaff for the visit of Everton on Saturday after the 21-year-old damaged ligaments in his knee.
The midfielder had caught the eye in recent months with some superb performances but is now expected to miss the remainder of the season through injury.
Manager Rafael Benitez said: "When you have an injury in the team it's always bad news, when it's a young player it's even worse. Talking with him he's fine mentally, he's strong.
Marco Silva is pleased with the performances.
"It was a good week for us, there are no doubts about that. It would have been perfect if we could have achieved the six points. We got an important away win, and then a draw in a tough home match with the derby," he said.
"They are always a solid team. They are very strong in their defensive organisation. They do not concede many goals and they are really strong in the counter-attack, too. We will have to do our best and give everything to win the match.

Tough place to go at the moment. But our confidence must be high now. The old Everton would beat them home or away but we never know what we are going to get. I'm hoping we go on a run now but our fixtures are shocking until the end of the season. Do you think we can get 7th?
